A “cloudy” translation experience

{Painting by Mary Maxam}

I have a deadline Monday evening but how can I resist a quick post about my first experience into… translation “clouds”?

So far, I haven’t used any CAT tools for my translation work because I mainly translate legal documents in PDF form and their conversion into workable files is messy.

However, I have been meaning to start using translation software due to the increase of my work. Some time ago I downloaded OmegaT and for some reason I still can’t put my finger on, I have not been able to get OmegaT to open up files I converted into ODTs.

I am still working on it which translates to spending more time on this and probably asking other translators for some tips.

Anyway, I am currently translating this short project for a new client who has made the project accessible for me on Memsource Cloud.

In the beginning I was reluctant to sign in (yes…I know, I’m very traditional) but now all I can say is that I would like to continue working “inside clouds”.

And hopefully OmegaT!

How about you? Have you worked with Memsource Cloud?
